Amelia Paula Williams

Amelia Paula Davis Williams was called from labor to heavenly reward, Sunday, June 16, 2024, while a patient at Atrium Health Cabarrus, Concord, North Carolina. Affectionately known as Paula, she was born October 4, 1948, in Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina; and was the daughter of Ruth Davis Camp and Wavely Camp Sr. A sweet spirit, infectious smile, and a kind demeanor were attributes that embodied Paula. Today we celebrate Paula’s life. We are comforted in knowing that she fought the good fight; is soaring with the Angels; and is safely in Our Father’s Arms. We give thanks for the many  wonderful years we shared her life. 

Educated in the Rowan County public schools, Paula was a proud graduate of the historic J.C. Price High School, class of 1967. She furthered her education at Salisbury Business School, Salisbury. After many years of dedicated service, Paula retired from the Transportation Department, Stanly County Board of Education, Albemarle, North Carolina.  

A woman of faith, Paula was a member of First Baptist Church, Badin, North Carolina where she served as church secretary, youth advisor, Missionary Board member, member of the Spiritual, Senior, and Women’s Choirs. Paula was a former member of Union Chapel AME Zion Church, Albemarle, and was Director of the Junior Choir. Never idle, she was also a member of the West Badin Concert Choir, Badin, member of the Order of Eastern Star, PHA, Badin Chapter #457, where she held the office of Associate Matron, and a Gleaner Supervisor for Agnes Jewels. 

In her pastime, Paula enjoyed singing and playing Bingo. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was a loving mother to her daughters who she adored; and a doting grandmother to her grand and great grands who were the ‘apple of her eye’. 

Paula was formerly married to Marlowe Williams where they shared two daughters: Lazora “Libby” and Milicent “Millie”.  

Paula has joined her parents and her brother, Waverly James Camp Jr. in a place of peace and tranquility. 

Gone from our home, but always in our hearts, our beloved Paula will forever be remembered by her daughters: Lazora E. (Tyrone) Williams-Brown and Milicent E. (James) Williams-Hubert; grandchildren: Maurice T. Williams (Mary Quarles) and Tiera M. (James) Williams-Sadler; great grandchildren: Aaliyah J. Williams, Maddox T. Williams, Carter Lipscomb and Madden T. Williams; Godson, Jonathan Spencer; sister-in-law, Patsy Camp; honorary daughter, Arnesha L. Williams; honorary grandchildren: Jeremiah McRae and Hakim Foster; aunt, Clara Cross; special cousin, Frank L. Milton Jr.; special friends: Beverly Burrell, Jean Burns, Karen Williams, Ruby Bryant, Fred Kilgore, Lee Diggs, Sadie Knight and Doris Spencer; a host of cousins and numerous friends.
