Sandy Wilson Obituary

Sandy Adam Wilson born October 5, 1955 unexpectedly passed away on December 26, 2018.

He was born to Allen and Josephine Wilson and was then adopted at an early age and raised by his uncle and aunt Adam and Ethel Wilson. All whom preceded him in death.

Sandy was raised up in the Christian Faith and was a member of Cedar Grove A.M.E. Zion Church.  He later moved his membership to Hope, Faith & Charity Church under the Leadership of Reverend Curtis E. Long. Sandy was a member there for 14 years (until his death). He was an Usher and served on the Trustee Board.

Sandy’s education began at West Badin School (as it did for many of us). Then through the process of segregation, he attended New London Elementary.  From there to North Stanly High School where he graduated June 1973. During his high school journey, he joined the band and held position of the Bass Drummer. In 1973 the Band was selected to go to Washington, DC to play at the Capitol.

Sandy was employed by E.J. Snyder & Co Inc of Albemarle, NC for 10 years as well as the Boardroom Restaurant for 5-6 years. Sandy was also employed by Gentry Mills of Albemarle, NC and after 10 years of service at Gentry he Retired in March 2018.

Sandy was married to Barbara “Coot” Spencer whom preceded him in death.

Sandy always had a genuine love for children and family.  In 2007 he was blessed with beautiful twin daughters, Sandy and Jalen Wilson which filled him with an abundance of love and great joy.  He was a proud and devoted father and the twins were the most important part of his life.  It was very important to Sandy that his girls knew their family heritage, so he ensured they were present at all family events and functions. He also made certain that the girls had communication with their uncles Donald, Alvin, Calvin and Aunt Vera in New York several times a month, as family was Sandy’s number one priority.

Sandy will be deeply missed by his children, family, friends and all that knew him. He leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters: Sandy and Jalen Wilson, Albemarle, NC.  Brothers: Donald (Janet) Simms, Alvin (Connie) Lipscomb, Calvin (Donna) Lipscomb and Sister: Vera Simms, all whom reside in NY. Also, Brother Tyrone Wilson and Sisters: Geraldine Wilson (Preceded him in death), Priscilla Wilson, all whom reside in PA; and Lillie Wilson, NC.  Aunt Lula Bell Wilson (his second home growing up) New London, NC;  Aunt Midge Boulware, High Point, NC; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Family thanks each and every one of you for everything you’ve done to help us during our time of bereavement.
