Mary Lee Hancock

God in his infinite wisdom called our beloved, Mary Lee Hancock, to her Heavenly home, Sunday, December 23, 2018. Born August 9, 1944 in Anson County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Hancock and Merty Covington Hancock. We give thanks to Our Lord and Savior for allowing us to share her life. She will be missed dearly, but we are comforted in knowing she is resting in Our Father’s arms. 

She was educated in the Anson County public schools and was employed for many years with Boone’s Cleaners. Mary was a devoted member of New Direction Life Ministries, Norwood, North Carolina, where she was Mother of the Church. In her leisure, she enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and listening to music.

Mary’s parents, daughter, Lisa Hancock and siblings: Mather Lean Lee, Evelyn Staton, Claude Hancock, Willie Hancock, June Hancock and J.B. Hancock preceded her in death.

Family members and friends who will cherish Mary’s memory are: her sons: Christopher (Penny) Hancock, Sr., Houston, Texas and Jeremy Hancock, Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren: Latisha Waddell, Zaniya Hancock, Taylor Hancock and Christopher W. Hancock, Jr.; sisters: Nora Augustine, Bronx, New York, Susie (Stockton)Whitten, West Babylon, New York, Mae Bell Moses and Gloria Hancock, both of Albemarle, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church members and friends.
