Lenora McDonald Obituary

A life well-lived, adored, loved, Lenora McDonald’s journey came to a close Christmas night, December 25, 2019 while a patient at Atrium Health-Cabarrus Concord, North Carolina. “Peach”, as she was affectionately known, was a name befitting a lady who displayed generosity, kindness and a sweet, sweet spirit. She was born in Stanly County, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Ellis W. and Justine Jordan McDonald.  Those of us who had the good fortune to know “Peach” have been blessed beyond measure as we shared her life. We thank Our Lord and Savior for her beautiful life.

Educated in the Stanly County public schools, after graduating from high school, Lenora pursued and received a degree in nursing from Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte, North Carolina. She was a licensed practical nurse with the Veterans Medical Center, Salisbury, North Carolina retiring after many years of dedicated service.

Lenora was member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Albemarle, North Carolina. She enjoyed traveling and shopping, specifically for beautiful and stylish handbags to adorn her arm. Her laugh was infectious and indescribable. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh.

“Peach” loved her family. She and her brother Bobby were very close and often when you saw one, you saw the other. Although she did not have biological children, she adored her nieces and nephews and treated them like her own.

The light that shown so brightly is no longer in our midst, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of: brothers: Bobby McDonald and his wife Marie, and Robert Cody, both of Badin, North Carolina; sister, Hazel McDonald Cody, New York, New York; best friend, Marva Davis, Durham, North Carolina; a host of adoring nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

As you rest in God’s Arms” Peach”, know that as we bid you farewell our hearts are comforted in knowing that flights of Angels have taken you to your Eternal Home.
