Katherine Diane (Liles) Lawson

Katherine Diane Liles-Lawson, age 61, gave up time for Eternity, Sunday, June 21,2019 surrounded by family members at her bedside. Diane as she was fondly known was born October 29, 1957 in Stanly County, North Carolina. Her parents, Benjamin Liles Sr. and Lula Mae McLendon Liles, preceded her in death. Diane was dearly loved. Although her physical presence is no longer with us, her spiritual presence will forever remain in our hearts.

Diane was educated in the Stanly County public schools and graduated in the Class of 1975 from Albemarle Senior High School, Albemarle, North Carolina. She was a health care professional for over twenty-five years; and was employed with Bentley Gardens Hospital and Saint Rayfield Hospital, New Haven, Connecticut and Carolinas Medical Center-Main, Charlotte, North Carolina.

She was a devoted member of Love Center Ministries, New Haven, Connecticut. In Albemarle, she attended Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. In her leisure, Diane enjoyed reading the Holy Bible, gardening, spending time with family and friends. She was well traveled and enjoyed visits to many cities throughout the United States, the Bahamas and Canada. Other interests included interior decorating, watching a great television show and going to the movies. Diane was an excellent seamstress and was always impeccably dressed. She epitomized the word “fashionista” and always had a flair for fashion.

Diane and Joseph Lawson were joined in Holy Matrimony for over fifteen years.

Fond, loving and treasured memories will be held in the hearts of Diane’s husband, Joseph Lawson, Charlotte, North Carolina; daughter, Tisa T. Liles, Monroe, North Carolina; grandchildren: Kylise Thomas and Donnard Covington; brother, Benjamin Liles Jr., Albemarle, North Carolina; nieces: Frateesha Lilly and Lynette Lawson; nephews: Lorikcas McLendon, Benjamin Liles III and Lonnell Lawson Jr.; sister-in-law, Valeria (Ronald) Watkins; brothers-in-law: Daniel Lawson Jr., Lonnell (Deborah) Lawson Sr., John (Emma) Lawson, and Ronald Lawson; God mother, Corene Parker; best friend, Diane Flake; God sister, Tracey Diggs; special friend, Dr. Annette Wagner; a host of other relatives and friends.
