Joseph Marcel DeSouza, our beloved son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, family member and friend departed this life of 17 years, Saturday, June 22, 2019. ‘“Joey” as he was lovingly known was born on a spring day, May 6, 2002 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina. His parents Janett L. Carpenter and Joseph DeSouza were over-joyed with their ‘bundle of joy’.
“Joey” attended the Stanly County, North Carolina public schools and was a rising senior at Albemarle Senior High School, Albemarle, North Carolina. He was like many teenagers who enjoyed singing and rapping to the latest hip-hop songs, shopping for his favorite clothes, especially the latest tennis shoes, and enjoying a great meal. His favorite food was sweet cakes. “Joey” had a love for art and could often be seen drawing when he wasn’t spending time with friends.
He is now at rest in the Arms of Our Lord and Savior. “Joey” will be missed more than words can convey. He leaves a void in our lives; he leaves us smiling through our tears. Through faith and belief in Our Father we still believe and give thanks for “Joey’s” life and the memories he left.
‘’Joey” is survived by his mother, Janett L. Carpenter and his father, Joseph DeSouza; sisters: Tempest DeSouza, Albemarle, North Carolina and Alegra DeSouza, New York, New York; maternal grandmother, Ella Carpenter, Albemarle, North Carolina; nephew, Juawan (J.J.) Crump, Jr.; aunts: Billie Ann Carpenter, Albemarle, North Carolina, Cathy (Thaddeus) Bruton, Statesville, North Carolina and Levitha DeSouza, New York, New York; uncle, Douglas Carpenter, Durham, North Carolina; a host of other relatives and friends.
“Goodnight “Joey”, may you rest in Peace. We will meet again”.
