“Servant of God, well done. Rest from thy love employ:
The battle fought; the victory won; Enter thy master’s joy.”
Helen Louise Griffin Thomas, age 89, entered Eternal rest Saturday, June 29, 2019 while a patient at Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast, Concord, North Carolina. She was born March 19, 1930 in Stanly County, North Carolina; and was the daughter of the late Stewart and Annie Taylor Griffin. Our family has been truly blessed to have had her in our lives for so many years.
Educated in the Stanly County public schools, Helen graduated from the historic Kingville High School, Albemarle, North Carolina. She also attended Livingstone College, Salisbury, North Carolina. Helen was employed with Allman Brothers Poultry in the food processing department prior to her retirement.
She and her family were dedicated members of Saint Matthews United Church of God, Oakboro, North Carolina where she was a former Sunday School teacher, former president of the Women’s Auxiliary and member of the Missionary Department. She was family oriented and enjoyed cooking scrumptious meals, spending time with family and gardening.
Helen and Roy Lee Thomas were married sixty-eight years before his death in August 2017. They were loving parents to their four children. Three of their children: Willie, Leonard and Rosalyn preceded them in death; Donnie survives his mother. Helen’s sisters: Lela Coble and Elma Wilson also preceded her in death.
Her memory will be treasured; a lasting memory that will remain in our hearts forever.
