Freeman Williams Obituary

Freeman Eddie Williams was born in Lee County, North Carolina on November 28, 1954 to the parents of the late Eddie and Lucretia Lee Williams. We give honor and thanksgiving to Our Lord and Savior for allowing us the opportunity to share the life of a man who will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, humanity and love for his family, church, and community.

He was educated in the Lee and Chatham County Schools, North Carolina. His knowledge and insight in financial planning led him to a career in finance. For many years he was employed as branch manager with American General Finance, Albemarle, North Carolina.

After relocating to Badin, North Carolina in the late seventies, Freeman, a Believer, moved his membership from New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Sanford, North Carolina to Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Badin. There he was a devoted member serving as Minister of Music, former Sunday School superintendent for over thirty years, Deacon Board member, and stellar supporter of many other church auxiliaries.

Freeman was a gifted musician who traveled throughout the country with his brothers in the singing group, The Williams Brothers, this group was launched by their father. The group is now known as the Sanfordaires of Sanford. Quite the outdoors man, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing tennis and landscaping. Other enjoyments included watching Science fiction and western television programs.

Early Monday morning, May 7, 2018 Freeman joined his parents, and brothers: Wilbert L. Williams and Melvin A. Williams who preceded him in death.

Freeman and his bride, Mary Hood Williams, celebrated thirty-six years of marriage. They enjoyed loving and caring for their children and grandchildren.

Freeman’s love, legacy and countless memories will be forever treasured by: his wife, Mary H. Williams, Badin; sons: Derrick A. Williams, Freeman D. Williams, both of Badin, Kellman D. Williams, Albemarle and Corey J. Hooker, Pittsboro, North Carolina; daughter, Crystal R. Williams, Albemarle; grandchildren; brothers: Alfonzo (Millicent) Williams, Coats, North Carolina and Curtis Morrison, Hope Mills, North Carolina; sister, Candace Moffitt; a host of other relatives and friends.
