Dorothy Mae Elfirma Lee was born in Holly Grove, Arkansas to the late Charlie Lee and Mae Henry Davis Lee on May 11, 1936. She was the first of four children. Her brothers were: Charlie Lee Jr., Cleveland Lee and John Henry Lee. Dorothy entered Eternal rest, June 13, 2019 at her residence in Albemarle, North Carolina.
Dorothy began her education at Pointer Elementary School in Monroe County, Arkansas and later attended M.M. Tate High School in Phillips County, Arkansas. In 1947, she received salvation during a spring revival at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor W.L. Winston, Helena, Arkansas.
After her marriage to Ford Moye, in 1956, she moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. From this union, a son, Tyrone Moye was born. Both Ford and Tyrone preceded Dorothy in death.
Dorothy met and married Joseph Thomas Knight in 1962. They were the proud parents of a daughter, Regina Denise Knight. Joseph preceded Dorothy in death in 2009.
Mr. and Mrs. Knight moved from Pittsburgh to Badin, North Carolina in 1986 and continued to reside in Stanly County, North Carolina until their deaths.
Mrs. Knight was an active member of First Baptist Church, Badin where she participated in the Senior Choir, Missionary Society and was a Sunday School teacher for the adult class. She was ordained as a Deacon in 2007 and remained an active member.
She is survived by her daughter, Regina, and son-in-law, Lloyd Parker; three grandchildren: Tyrone Harrell , Loren Harrell and William Spruill; two great grandchildren: Tyren Harrell and Kaelynn Harrell; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
