Our beloved Charles Woodrow Smith departed this earthly life on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at his residence in Badin, North Carolina. We thank Our Lord for the wonderful memories we shared with him.
Charles, son of the late Kelser McLendon and the late Ruby Smith LeGrand, was born June 15, 1941 in Stanly County, North Carolina. He was the oldest of seven children and was a 1959 graduate of West Badin High School, Badin.
He was employed with Alcoa Badin Works, Badin for 33 years where he retired as a steelworker and storeroom foreman. In his leisure, Charles enjoyed playing golf, fishing, playing cards and was an avid Washington Redskins fan.
Charles was a member of McDonald Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, Badin.
He is survived by his loving wife, Reba Sue Smith of the home; two daughters: Charee Smith and Charmaine S. (Marcus) Watkins, both of Badin; two grandsons: Chamar D. Watkins and Douglas J. Smith; sisters: Valerie Tyson, Badin, Gale Allen, Albemarle, Brenda (Alvester) Goode, Badin, Sarah Legrand, Badin; one sister-in-law; one brother-in-law; an aunt; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
