Bruce E. Dawson, age 64, departed his earthly life, Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at his residence in Albemarle, North Carolina, surrounded by loving and devoted family. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut, September 17, 1954; and was the son of the late James Gussie and Zola Mae Tyson Dawson. We give honor and thanks for our beloved’s life and will be forever grateful for the years we shared.

He attended the New Haven public schools and was a 1972 graduate of Wilbur Cross High School, New Haven. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted and served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. For many years Bruce and his family were affiliated with New Shiloh A.M.E. Church, Mt. Gilead, North Carolina where he was a member of the Deacon Board. In his leisure, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He encouraged his children and grandchildren concerning the importance of education and doing their best in their chosen employment and other endeavors. Another favorite pastime was playing the drums.
