In sweet peace, we give thanksgiving to Our Father, for allowing us to spend so many wonderful years with our beloved, Helen Robinson Corpening, who was called to eternal rest Wednesday, February 7, 2024. Helen was born February 25, 1940, in Stanly County, North Carolina; and was the daughter of the late Hurley Lee and Doretha Yarborough Robinson. Gone from our homes, but never from our hearts, her memory will forever live. We are comforted in knowing that Helen is soaring with the Angels.
She was educated in the Stanly County public schools and was employed in the textile industry for many years. During high school years at Kingville High School, Albemarle, Helen embodied school spirit, kindness and love for her classmates. Her classmates in return showed the same love and elected her Homecoming Queen. This was an honor Helen always cherished.
Helen was a believer and a dedicated member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Albemarle. There she enjoyed many church services and was a member of the Usher Board. In her leisure, she enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening, and shopping. Helen was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend to her neighbors. She loved family and savored birthday and holiday get-togethers.
She was preceded in death by her husbands: Andrew Green Sr. and Robert Corpening Sr.; grandsons: DeJuan Wall, Steven Green, and Alex Corpening: sister, Madie Robinson and brothers: Carl Lee Robinson, Roscoe Robinson and James Robinson.
Fond and loving memories will never be forgotten by her daughters: Shelia (Christopher) Green-Wall, Teresa (Jimmy) Streater, and Rshonda Corpening; sons: Andrew Green Jr., Robert (Alicia) Corpening Jr., and Jamar Corpening; grandchildren: Durand Green, Sher’uan Wall, Christopher Wall Jr., Octavius Wall, Jasmine Wall, Irvanni Hester, Jermal Corpening, Lylah Corpening, Leyanna Corpening and special granddaughter, Chantal Green; twenty-four great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; aunt, Mary Lee Brown; a host of other relatives and friends.
