Dorise R. Turner Wall peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home Wednesday, April 10, 2024 surrounded by her beloved family members. Born January 21, 1931, in Stanly County, North Carolina to the late Melvin and Mamie Turner.
Dorise Wall began her education at Kingville High School and was a proud graduate of the Class of 1948. She continued her education as she attended Business School and completed courses in Book Keeping and Business Machines in the early 50’s. She was employed for many years at Hudson Department Store and retired from Suffolk Regional Off Track Betting.
Dorise joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Albemarle at an early age and accepted the Lord as her Savior. Later along with her late husband of 38 years, she joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, Medford, NY where she was very active. She was a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Church Secretary and Pastor’s Aide. After relocating from her home of over 60 years in Long Island, New York, she moved back to Albemarle, NC to be closer to family. She reaffiliated with Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Leandrew Wall; her son, Terry Geroy Townsend; her sisters: Maker Neil Donaldson and Leacy Mae Rand; her brother, Melvin D. Turner Jr.
She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering love.
Left to cherish her fond and loving memories are her grandsons: Dexter G. Townsend (Tina), Albemarle, NC, William “WD” Benson Jr., Gastonia, NC, and Daniel Benson, Albemarle; granddaughter, Tomeika Baldwin (Shawn Sr.) Albemarle; great grandchildren: Shawn Baldwin Jr. and Rashaad Baldwin, Albemarle, Shawntelle Baldwin, Locust, NC, and Lyric D. Townsend, Greensboro, NC; sister-in-law, Shirley Turner, Columbus, Ga; brother-in– law, Lou Donaldson, Fort Lauderdale, Fl; nieces: Cynthia Samedy and Donna Riggins, Albemarle, Vertina T. Hall (Rick) and Theola Turner, Charlotte, NC, Dr. E. Carol Webster (Charlie), Fort Lauderdale, Fl, and Therese Hunter (Jerry), Spring Hill, Fl; nephew, Melvin D. Turner III, Lawrenceville, Ga; special great great nephew, Master Matthew Taylor, Albemarle; lifelong friend, Reesa Wells, Morrisville, NC; a host of other family and friends.
