Wilbert Butler, Jr. the son of Wilbert and Olivia Kendall Butler, Sr. was born August 7, 1961 in Manhattan, New York. He departed his earthly life Friday, December 30, 2017 at the VA Medical Center, Salisbury, North Carolina. We, his family and friends, bow in humble submission to the Will of God and are thankful for the time we were allowed to share Wilbert’s life.

He graduated from Albemarle Senior High School-Class of 1979, Albemarle, North Carolina. He served in the United States Army. Wilbert was formerly employed with Shoe Show Warehouse, Concord, North Carolina and was affiliated with New Life Baptist Church, Concord, North Carolina. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Wilbert was preceded in death by a son, Darien Drye; a daughter, LaConya Butler; a younger brother, Rickey Butler; aunt, Mattie Leake; uncles: Claude Butler, Jr, Francis Ellis, Rometta Butler, and Larry Butler.

Left to cherish fond memories are: his wife, Zyphretta Tyson Butler, Kannapolis, North Carolina; five sons: Travis Butler, Wilbert Butler, III, Cornelius Butler and Omarion Butler, all of Kannapolis, North Carolina and Tyquis Butler, Charlotte, North Carolina; four daughters: Tamera Butler, Greensboro, North Carolina, Shanteka Butler, Shaniquia Butler and Takiya Butler, all of Kannapolis, North Carolina; thirteen grandchildren; parents, Wilbert and Olivia Butler, Albemarle, North Carolina; three brothers: Michael Butler, Knoxville, Tennessee, Steven Snuggs, Dalton, Alabama, and John Devore, Albemarle, North Carolina; five sisters: Stephney (Jerome) Little, Albemarle, North Carolina, Flechia Kirk, High Point, North Carolina, Theresa Butler, Tamika Butler and Angie Butler, all of Charlotte, North Carolina; aunts: Juanita Gaddy, Minnie (John) Medley, Marie Banster, and Linda Brewer; uncles: Henry J. Butler, Roger (Unis) Butler, Samuel (Katherine) Butler and Otis Brewer; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
