Watson Brooks, Jr.

“Sunset and evening star, and one clear call for me. And may there be no moaning of the bar when I put out to sea.” Thusly on Tuesday morning, September 20,2016, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ called our father, grandfather, brother and uncle to his Heavenly home. We are forever humble and thankful for the many years we shared his life.

Watson Brooks, Jr., age 75, was born September 10,1941 in Stanly County, North Carolina; and was the son of the late Alice Lucille Chambers and Watson Brooks, Sr. Watson was educated in the Stanly County public schools and was a retired truck driver. He was a member of Saints Delight Church, Albemarle, North Carolina where he enjoyed the fellowship of his family and friends. Watson was fun loving, compassionate and had a gift of giving to his family and friends. He enjoyed playing practical jokes, playing cards and cooking a meal for his family. But above all putting a smile on someone’s face always brought joy to him as he was known for his good sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Trina Brooks Boyd; two brothers: Curtis Steele and Clifton Brooks; and a sister, Lucille Sims.

Those left to cherish his love, devotion and memory are three sons:  Donnie Brooks, Atlanta, Georgia, Diondre Brooks, Albemarle, North Carolina and Freddie Butler, Mt. Gilead, North Carolina; a daughter, Melissa Brooks, Staton Island, New York; six grandchildren; a devoted sister, Clara Brooks, New York, New York; nieces; nephews, other relatives and friends.
