Wanda Diggs Obituary

The earthly life of Wanda Gail McKinney Diggs came to a close Tuesday, April 17, 2018 while a patient at Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast, Concord, North Carolina.  We give thanks to our Lord and Savior for allowing us to share Wanda’s life. 

She was born December 25,1957 in Gaston County, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Doris Short McKinney.  Wanda was reared by the late Edna Wall and Edna McLendon. She graduated in the Class of 1976-Bowman High School, Anson County. Prior to declining health, Wanda was employed as a machinist with McCrae’s Industries, Mt. Gilead, North Carolina.

Wanda and her family were members of Saints Delight Church, Albemarle, North Carolina.  She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.  Other enjoyments included: cooking, watching television (courtroom dramas and the Atlanta Housewives were her favorites), gardening, and talking with people for she was a great conversationalist.

Her parents and brothers: Ronnie James and Ricky Calvin preceded her in death.

Wanda and George W. Diggs, Jr. were a devoted couple who celebrated over forty (40) years of marriage.

Precious and loving memories are left with: her husband, George W. Diggs, Jr., Albemarle; sons: Kevin McKinney, Sr., Charlotte, NC and George W. Diggs III, Albemarle, NC; six grandchildren: Kevin, Jr., Jametrius (Teshae), KaDiyan, Tyshun, Aniyah, and Shamyra; two great-grandchildren: Kingston and Jamonte; brothers: Michael (Brenda) McKinney, Sr., Albemarle, Tony McKinney, Asheboro, Gary McKinney and Timothy McKinney, both of Raleigh and Kenny McKinney, Albemarle; sisters: Brenda Davis, New London, Terry L. Taylor, Ansonville, Sandra (Ronald) Rice, Kannapolis, Shelia Ford, Arizona, Sandra Gainey, Lilesville and Mildred McKinney, Aberdeen; uncle and aunts: Billy (Margaret) Wall, Wadesboro, Martha Autry, Wadesboro, Sadie Campbell, Lilesville; brothers-in-law: Joseph (Verna) Diggs, Larry Diggs and Gerald Diggs, all of West Virginia; sisters-in-law: Virginia M. Diggs, West Virginia, Anita (Willie) Wiggins, Wadesboro, NC, Marie Diggs, West Virginia and Josephine Smith, Sacramento, California; two God-daughters: Agnes Parker, Albemarle, and Arloishia Israel, Charlotte; best friend, Dora Copeland; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
