Thoms Edward Stokes, Jr.

Those we love remain with us,

Born December 18,1954 in Stanly County, North Carolina, Thomas Edward Stokes, Jr. departed this life of 61 years on Thursday, March 24,2016. He was the son of Mary Frances Drye and the late Thomas Edwards Stokes, Sr.

Thomas received his formal education in the Stanly County public schools and was a graduate in the Class of 1972, North Stanly High School, New London, North Carolina. After graduation Thomas enlisted and served his country honorably in the United States Army. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for several years as a machinist with Phillip Morris U S A, Concord, North Carolina.

His church affiliation was with First Baptist Church, New London, North Carolina where he was a former member of the Deacon Board. Thomas was a quiet, unassuming man who enjoyed playing Solitaire and watching his favorite football team-the Dallas Cowboys.

He was formerly married to Henrietta Stokes and Sharonda Holtzclaw Stokes.
Many fond, cherished and loving memories are left with: three sons: Brett (Sheana) Stokes and Brandon Stokes(Angela Sanders), both of Albemarle, NC and D’ Mitri Stokes, Kannapolis, NC; three daughters: Lakeshia Stokes and Samantha Stokes, both of Albemarle, NC and Bianca Stokes, Kannapolis, NC; thirteen grandchildren; his mother and stepfather, Mary Frances and John D. Edwards, New London, NC; a brother, Kenneth (Sheila) Stokes, Salisbury, NC; a sister, Gwendolyn Stokes, Albemarle, NC; special friends: Quiesha Merriam and Kenny M. Ingram; a host of other relatives and friends.
