Welcome to the memorial page for

Thelma Clark

October 17, 1936 ~ May 22, 2017 (age 80) 80 Years Old

“Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His Pasture.”

Psalm 100: 3

In sweet peace, on the morning of Monday, May 22, 2017 our beloved, Thelma Ruth Clark Lilly, gave up time for eternal rest and journeyed home to be with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our family and friends are most saddened as we say goodbye to a woman of God, a woman of Faith, whom we loved dearly. We are grateful for the many years we shared her life.

Thelma Ruth was born October 17, 1936 in Stanly County, North Carolina and was the daughter of Beadie and Versia Staton Clark, Sr.

She attended the Stanly County public schools and was a seamstress with Stanly Knitting Mills, Oakboro, North Carolina prior to her retirement.  A life-long, faithful member of Saint Matthews United Church of God, Oakboro, Thelma Ruth was a member of the Children of Joy Choir and a member of the Bereavement Committees. Thelma Ruth and her sister Emma were fashionistas and always were impeccably dressed. Other hobbies included: playing the piano, sewing, cooking, gardening and of course “shopping”.

Along with her husband, Theodore R. Lilly, Sr., and her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Johnsie Lilly; a sister, Emma J. Clark and a brother, John L. Clark.

Thelma Ruth’s legacy of love, devotion to family and friends and her sweet spirit will live in the hearts of those who survive. They are: three daughters: Shelby C. (James) Ashcraft & Vivian Little, both of Oakboro, North Carolina and Wanda McClendon, Albemarle, North Carolina; three sons: Dorsey T. Lilly, Albemarle, North Carolina, Theodore R. Lilly, Jr., Oakboro, North Carolina and Alex (Nikki) Lilly, Harrisburg, North Carolina; fifteen grandchildren; forty-one great grandchildren; two brothers: Edward H. Clark and Beadie Clark, Jr., both of Oakboro, North, Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

“Goodnight sweet Thelma Ruth, may flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest.”
