Ms. Pollie Marie Muchison Dunlap, age 84, was born August 6, 1931 in Stanly County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Josephus L. and Leila Lynch Murchison, Sr. She departed her earthly life on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 while a patient at Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast, Concord, North Carolina. During this most difficult time we give thanksgiving to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for his gift of sharing our loved one’s life.
She attended the Stanly County public schools and graduated from West Badin High School, Badin, North Carolina. After graduation, Pollie pursued and received two certificates in cosmetology and practical nursing. She was employed with the North Carolina Department of Transportation Road Services for many years.
Pollie was a life-long member of First Baptist Church, Badin, North Carolina where she was a former member of the Senior and Spiritual Choirs, advisor for the Youth and Mass Choirs and a member of the Missionary Board. From 1964-1971, she served as a member of the Mother’s Auxiliary for the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 131, Badin, North Carolina.
She enjoyed life and always kept abreast of the happenings in the Badin community. She enjoyed listening to music, singing, cooking a scrumptious meal and was a true believer in assisting children with obtaining a good education.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Belton Dunlap and sister, Margaret Louise Murchison.
Those left to cherish her memory are, children: a daughter, Sandra (Rev. Charles) Allen, New London, North Carolina; sons: Josephus D. (Lea) Murchison, St. Augustine, Florida and Marcel Murchison, New London, North Carolina; a foster son, Vincent (Barbara) Allen, Rock Hill, South Carolina; a step-daughter, Katie Johnson, New London, North Carolina; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; five foster grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; a brother, Josephus L. Murchison, Jr., Tampa, Florida; a host of other relatives and special friends.
