Mr. Leonard McDonald, Sr.

O Eternal God, the giver of life, we the family of Leonard McDonald, Sr., humbly thank you for the gift of life and the many years we shared with Leonard before you called him to eternal rest on Tuesday, November 3, 2015.  Born March 1, 1947, in Stanly County, North Carolina, Leonard was the son of the late Ellis W. and Justine Jordan McDonald.

He was educated in the public schools of Stanly County where upon completion of his high school graduation, he enlisted and served his country gallantly in the United States Army for sixteen (16) years. This was a most adventurous time and he enjoyed traveling the world. For twenty (20) years he was employed with the Veterans Administration Hospital. His church affiliation was with McDonald Chapel A. M. E. Zion Church, Badin, North Carolina. Leonard enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was an avid sports enthusiast.

Leonard joins his parents and siblings: Thomas McDonald, Eddie Hudson, Sr., Dorothy McDonald, Gladys Smith, and Tonia Lee, who have crossed the River Jordan.

Fond memories and a legacy of love are left with: his son, Leonard McDonald, Jr., and a grandson, Kevin McDonald, both of New York, New York; two brothers: Bobby (Marie) McDonald and Robert Cody, Jr., both of Badin, North Carolina; two sisters: Hazel (Robert Sr.) Cody, New York, New York and Lenora McDonald, Salisbury, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
