Mary Magdalene (Hamilton) Alexander

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness…

Mary Magdalena Hamilton Alexander was graciously received into the shining light and peace of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, November 18,2016 while a patient at the Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, North Carolina. She was  born to the late Edgar and Verious Smith Hamilton in Concord, Cabarrus County, North Carolina on June 6,1940. Mary was a loving wife, devoted sister, caring aunt, wonderful friend and Christian woman who always greeted others with a smile.

She received her formal education in the Stanly County public schools and was employed for many years as a certified nursing assistant. Mary was a life-long member of Brown Hill AME Zion Church, Locust, North Carolina. There she served faithfully as a Class Leader, member of the Stewardess Board and sang with the Glory Land Singers. She enjoyed family gatherings and adored spending time with her sister and nephews.

On November 18, 2000 Mary married George Alexander who preceded her in death on March 12th of this year. In addition to her parents, and her husband, George, Mary was also preceded in death by her only child, Maurice and her brother, Alfred.

She leaves to cherish her memory: a devoted sister, Virginia H. Staton, Oakboro, North Carolina; a stepdaughter and her husband, Evangelist Vickie (Samuel) Spence, Jr., Waldorf, Maryland; nephews: Eric, Derrick and Percival; niece, Tammy; great nephews: Demond, Octavius, Tommy, Travis and Derrick; a god daughter, Cassandra Walker; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
