Margie Ruth Crump

August 6, 1919 ~ December 3, 2016 (age 97) 97 Years Old


Margie R. Crump, age 97, gave up time for Eternity on Saturday, December 3, 2016 while a patient at Stanly Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Albemarle, North Carolina. She was born in Albemarle, Stanly County, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Annie Crump and granddaughter of the late Tom Crump. “Ms. Mott” as she was affectionately known was dearly loved by her family, friends and the community. Age did not define her for she was spirited and young at heart.

 

“Ms. Mott” received her early education in the Stanly County public schools. She graduated from Kingville High School-Class of 1938.While in school, she played on the varsity basketball team and played the “guard” position.  After graduation she was employed with Jefferies Southern Processor, Inc. as a quality control operator for twenty years; she was also employed with Boone Village Cleaners for over twenty-five years. “Ms. Mott” was a life-long member of Union Chapel AME Zion Church, Albemarle where she was an active, dedicated and faithful member. She was a life member of the Women’s Home and Overseas Missionaries, past president of the Usher Board, member of the Deaconess Board, Class Leader, former choir member and “Mother of the Church”. In her leisure, she enjoyed fishing, dancing, walking, exercising with the Silver Fox Group and solving word puzzles.

 

In addition to her mother and grandfather, she was preceded in death by her siblings: William “Chief” Crump, Paul P. Colson, Robert L. Crump, F.E. Colson and Helen Crump Smith.

 

Love, devotion and a fond memory will forever be cherished by: six nieces: Margie (Neal) Graves, Elizabeth (Venson) Brooks, and Jennifer Graves, all of Asheboro, North Carolina, Reneece Huntley and Marsha Erwin, both of High Point, North Carolina and Rhonda (Bernard) Tate, Thomasville, North Carolina; three nephews: Ronald K. (Margaret) Crump, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Donald R. (Linda) Crump, Ramseur, North Carolina and Anthony Colson, High Point, North Carolina; special friends: Connie Freeman, Emily Turner, Robin Wall-Barnes, Donna Wall, Dawn Christian-Little and Carrie Robinson; other relatives and numerous friends.
