October 24, 1960 ~ October 30, 2016 (age 56) 56 Years Old


Receiving strength from the preceding words Levi Nelson Watkins gave up time for eternity on Sunday, October 30, 2016, while a patient at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Albemarle, North Carolina.  We, his family members and friends, bow in humble submission to the Will of God.

 

Born October 24, 1960, in Stanly County, North Carolina to the late Lessie Watkins Meadows and Walter Wood Watkins, Sr., Levi was educated in the public schools of Stanly County, North Carolina, graduating from Albemarle Senior High School, Albemarle, North Carolina. He also attended Catawba College, Salisbury, North Carolina. “Nelt” as he was fondly called by his dear family and friends served his country honorably in the United States Air Force..  He later went  to serve Stanly County as a member of the  Albemarle Police Department from 1986-1989.

 

His church membership was held with Spirit and Truth Ministries, Albemarle, North Carolina where he enjoyed worshipping through songs and praise. In his leisure he could be found hiking the Morrow and Uwharrie Mountains, dancing, telling war stories and watching the Carolina Panthers or the Minnesota Vikings. 

 

He was joined in Holy Matrimony to A. Marie Ridenhour Watkins, Albemarle, North Carolina.

 

Those left in the sunshine of life to cherish fond loving memories in addition to his wife are: three sons: Levi (Monica) Watkins, II, Phoenix, Arizona, Marquis D. Watkins, Sr., Maryland and Marickis Ridenhour, Albemarle, North Carolina; two daughters: Lavisha N. Watkins and Danielle Ridenhour, both of Albemarle, North Carolina; five grandchildren: Levi Watkins, III, Leah A. Watkins, Marquis D. Watkins, Jr., Dekki Hinson and A’zyrihanria Millsap; four brothers: Walter W. (Alice) Watkins and Prentice L. (Rennie) Watkins, both of Ansonville, North Carolina, Joe C. (Jackie) Watkins and Jarvis Watkins, both of Albemarle, North Carolina; two sisters: Darlene S. Elam, New Jersey and Lula W. (Michael) Fairley, Albemarle, North Carolina; mother-in-law, Lucille R. Christian, Albemarle, North Carolina; father-in-law, Daniel L. (Charlie Belle) Christian; two brothers-in-law: Edward (Sonia) Ridenhour and James (Alana) Ridenhour; godmother, Alice K. Davis; special classmate, Foster (Michelle) Parker; dear friend, Don Cole; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
