Larry Davis, Sr.

January 4, 1945 ~ April 14, 2017 (age 72) 72 Years Old


“Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free. I’m following the path God has chosen for me.” and thusly, Larry Davis, Sr. in accordance with the Will of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ entered into eternal rest, on Friday, April 14,2017 while a patient at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, North Carolina. Born January 4,1945 in Stanly County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Louis McLendon and Judy Ann Davis Moses.

Larry was educated in the Stanly County public school and attended, the historic Kingville High School, Albemarle, North Carolina. He was employed as a pot liner with Alcoa Aluminum Works, Badin, North Carolina; and was a member of the Twenty-Five (25) Year Club at Alcoa. Larry was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Richfield, North Carolina, where he served as a member of the Usher Board. In his leisure, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye. Other hobbies included: fishing, gardening, and talking on his CB radio.

In additional to his parents, two brothers: Walter Davis and Christopher Moses and a sister, Beverly Moses, preceded him in death.

Larry and his bride, Jessie Drye Davis, enjoyed fifty-one years of marriage.

Left to cherish and mourn wonderful memories and a legacy of love are: a devoted wife, Jessie D. Davis, Albemarle, North Carolina; one son, Larry Davis, Jr., Albemarle, North Carolina; three daughters: Teresa Davis, Albemarle, North Carolina, Corretta Ridenhour, Kannapolis, North Carolina and Jessica Davis, Badin, North Carolina; four grandchildren: Christopher Watson, Alexis Davis, Farron Watson and Elijah Threadgill; six great grandchildren: Ayden Watson, Aniyah Watson, Makyla Davis, Jayden Davis, Jamarion Davis and Kamille Lindsey; a brother, Wayne ( JoAnn) Gresham, Concord, North Carolina; three sisters: Elaine (Robert) Watkins, Betty Smith and Sandra Williams, all of Albemarle, North Carolina; two uncles: Lester (Rachel) McLendon and Edwin McLendon, both of Albemarle, North Carolina; an aunt, Alice Carpenter, Greensboro, NC; a special friend that he enjoyed talking on the CB radio with, John Branch, Albemarle, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
