Mr. Joe Everette Pemberton, was born on October 27, 1949 to the late Calvin H. and Grace Rivers Pemberton. He ended this journey after 66 years of life on November 7, 2015 at his residence Albemarle, North Carolina.
Joe attended the public schools of Stanly County, North Carolina. He later joined the United States Army servicing as a paratrooper for his country for eight years. He was last employed with Fiber Composite, Albemarle, North Carolina.
Joe attended Saints Delight Church, Albemarle, North Carolina where he enjoyed attending services with his sisters. He had a special gift of making everyone laugh. He was a master of “word search” and a culinary artist with a specialty in omelets. With a love of sports, “Joe Cool” as he was affectionately known, could often times be found playing basketball with others from the community. When he was younger, he enjoyed fishing and as he got older, he found pleasure in watching westerns on television. One of his greatest joys was his love for his sisters and family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara S. Pemberton and a sister, Mary Jane Pemberton.
Joe leaves behind a rich legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by a son, Christopher Smith, Norwood, North Carolina; four sisters: Brenda (Michael) McKinney, Anita Pemberton and Charlie Belle (Daniel) Christian, all of Albemarle, North Carolina and Melinda (Ezell) Harris, Norwood, North Carolina; a devoted niece, DarKisha Pemberton, with whom he resided; three aunts: Bobbi Rivers and Leatha Rivers, both of Albemarle, North Carolina and Louise Mae Rivers, Charlotte, North Carolina; mother-in-law, Lora C. Smith, Norwood, North Carolina; brother-in-law, Munsur (Carolyn) Ismail, Queens, New York; godmother, Alice Davis, Albemarle, North Carolina; goddaughter, Daphane Johnson, Greensboro, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
