Edward Charles Bennett

Edward Charles Bennett, son of the late Pedro and Louise Bennett Bennett, was born June 23,1952, in Stanly County, North Carolina and entered eternal rest on Monday, November 28,2016 while a patient at Stanly Regional Medical Center, Albemarle, North Carolina.

He was educated in the Stanly County public schools and graduated from North Stanly High School-Class of 1971.Prior to his retirement he was employed for 40 years with International Automotive Components (IAC) as a machinist. Edward was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Badin, North Carolina. In his leisure, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, listening to music and playing a spirited game of pool.

He was joined in marriage to the former Joyce McRae Bennett and they celebrated 39 years of marriage.

Edward is survived by his wife, Joyce M. Bennett, New London, North Carolina; four sons: Robert Bennett, New London, North Carolina, Marcus Bennett and Pedro (Stacey) Chambers both of Albemarle, North Carolina and Edzit Bennett, New London, North Carolina; one daughter, Edwina (Shawn) Friday, Charlotte, North Carolina; seven grandchildren; five brothers :Thomas (Betty) Bennett, Boston, Massachusetts, James Bennett, New London, North Carolina, Ricky (Faye) Bennett, Cartersville, Georgia, Jeremiah Bennett, New London, North Carolina and Pedro (Lee) Bennett, Chesapeake, Virginia; four sisters: Mary (Calvin) Peoples, Badin, North Carolina, Cleo Clark, Charlotte, North Carolina, Phyllis (Leon) Barger, New London, North Carolina and Sonia Richardson, Badin, North Carolina; an aunt, Troy Mae Bennett, Boston, Massachusetts; two brothers-in-law: Albert (Brenda) McRae and David (Karen) McRae; four sisters-in-law: Vivian Freeman, Cynthia McMillan, Gloria Williams and Elizabeth McRae; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Edward’s memory will forever live in the hearts of those who survive him.
