On Tuesday, May 29, 2012 God sent an Angel by Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Albemarle, North Carolina to bring His son, Mr. Dorsey Junior Chandler. We, his family members and friends, bow in humble submission to the Will of God.
Born June 27, 1928 in Fulton Country, Georgia, he was the son of the late Doss and Cora Grier Chandler. Two sons: Larry Chandler and James Chandler, and a daughter, Sylvia J. Chandler, preceded him in death. Mr. Chandler was a graduate of the Fulton County, Georgia school system. He was a retired employee of the Stanly County Courthouse, Albemarle, North Carolina.
Reared in the knowledge and salvation of God, Dorsey was a former member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, Brooklyn, New York. After moving to Stanly County, North Carolina his church membership was held with the First Baptist Church, Badin, North Carolina. He served as an usher, member of the Men’s Chorus and enjoyed working in the other auxiliaries in the church. Mr. Chandler enjoyed family gatherings and entertaining the local ministers as they fellowshipped and broke bread.
Dorsey was married to the former Sybil Huntley Chandler.
Left to cherish many fond memories are: wife, Sybil H. Chandler, of the home; two sons: Dexter B. (Elizabeth) Chandler, Nova, Ohio, Marcelle Huntley, Charlotte, North Carolina; five daughters: Barbara (Carl) Apperwhite and Kathleen (Charles) Peoples, both of Badin, North Carolina, Claudia Chambers, Atlanta, Georgia, Anita (Frank, Jr.) Butler, Kannapolis, North Carolina and Annette (Dwight) Grayer, Fayetteville, North Carolina; a brother, Robert (Jeannette) Chandler, Charlotte, North Carolina; a sister, Mattie Singleton, Atlanta, Georgia, twenty-one grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
