David McMillon

David McMillon, Jr., husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to his church and community, journey in life came to an end on Tuesday morning, May 23, 2017 while a patient at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center, Salisbury, North Carolina.  His family and friends will remember his quiet demeanor and his willingness to lend a helping hand to his fellowman.

Dave, as he was lovingly known, was born December 30, 1934 in Stanly County, North Carolina and was the son of the late David and Ellen Peterkin McMillon, Sr.

After graduating from West Badin High School, Badin, North Carolina, Dave enlisted in the military and served his country gallantly in the United States Army. Prior to retirement, he was employed with Alcoa Badin Works for thirty-two years where he was a member of the distinguished 25 Year Club. Dave was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Badin and served in the Finance Department. Other former affiliations included memberships in the Shriners and the Pride of Badin No. 557 Free & Acceptance Masons (PHA). In his pastime, Dave could often be seen gardening, riding his tractor, fishing, hunting, repairing and maintaining automobiles.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by a sister, Sallie Ann McMillon, and a brother, MacCarson McMillon.  

Dave and Bertha Gaddy McMillon were a devoted couple who celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage. They were the proud parents of five sons and two daughters, although not biological, was a special young lady in their life. 

A life well lived and loved, will be remembered, revered, and remain in the hearts of: his wife, Bertha G. McMillon, New London, North Carolina; four sons: David W. McMillon, Charlotte, North Carolina, Earl A. McMillon, Salisbury, North Carolina, Danny B.(Yiketta) McMillon, Harker Heights, Texas and Lyndon F. (Faye) McMillon, Charlotte, North Carolina, Rodney (Donna) Hough, Charlotte, North Carolina; a daughter, Cheryl V. Anderson, Kannapolis, North Carolina, Cynthia McMillon, Newport News, Virginia; ten grandchildren: Daneya Chantel McMillon, Mackenzie McMillon, Danny Bernard McMillon, Jr., Malcolm McMillon, Darryl Keith Williams, Jr., Feojha (Dominique) McMillon, Sequoya McMillon, Dustin Branch, Mya Hough and Leonard Fleming; five great grandchildren; four sisters: Alma Nabinett, Thelma Barnhardt, New London, North Carolina, Shady Mae (Melvin) Walker, Detroit, Michigan and Rosetta McMillon, Washington, District of Columbia; three brothers-in-law: Lorinza (Gaye) Gaddy, Woodrow (Porche) Gaddy and Ercell (Sandy) Tillman; sister-in-law, Edna McMillon; a very dear friend and brother, Bobby McDonald; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
