David Griffin

David Griffin, age 74, completed his journey in this life on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at his residence in Albemarle, North Carolina. He was born June 2, 1942 in Stanly County, North Carolina and was the son of the late Andrew and Odessa Scott Griffin. David’s kind and gentle demeanor will be remembered by all who knew him.

He attended the public schools of Stanly County and enjoyed playing sports while attending Kingville High School, Albemarle, North Carolina.

David’s church affiliation was with parkers grove Baptist church, New London, North Carolina. There he and his wife, Mary, enjoyed the friendship and fellowship of many. In his leisure, David could often be found fishing, cooking a delicious meal, watching baseball and westerns on television.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his children: Stephania Burns, James Hubbard and Alvin Rivers; his siblings: Joshua Griffin, Reuben Griffin, Raymond Griffin, Tommy Griffin, Roy Griffin, Henry Griffin, Charlie Bost, Robert Caldwell, Shirley Lilly and Lena Burns.

Those who survive David; those who will miss him dearly are: his wife, Mary A. Griffin, Albemarle, North Carolina; children: Monica Burns, Melissa Burns, both of Albemarle, North Carolina, Betty Adam, and Isaiah Rivers, both of Greensboro, North Carolina, Jeffery Hubbard, Columbia, South Carolina and Monica Harris, Albemarle, North Carolina; grandchildren: Cora Burns, Dimetric Fleming, Tyleshia Fleming, Marquaivus Fleming, MonToya Harris, Yasmine Drye and Martavius Pemberton; great grandchildren: AnizJay Brooks, Jevaiyah Polk, Akalah Brooks and Amari Brooks; brother, Melvin( Carolyn) Griffin, New Haven Connecticut; sisters: Wilma Owens, Richfield, North Carolina and Ruby G. Lilly, Albemarle, North Carolina; a special nephew, Maurice Burns; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
