Welcome to the memorial page for

Allen (Jr.) Walker

September 17, 1937 ~ May 17, 2017 (age 79) 79 Years Old

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I’d like to leave an after-glow of smiles when life is done.

I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,

Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.

I’d like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun,

Of happy memories that I leave, when my life is done.

On Wednesday evening May 17, 2017, ALLEN WALKER, JR. quietly left, on his well- planned journey to his new home in Glory.  In sweet peace, he departed this life of 79 years at his residence in Albemarle, North Carolina.

Allen was born on September 17, 1937 in Davie County, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Allen and Eula Mae Walker, Sr. His formal education was received in the public schools of Rowan County, North Carolina. After working 32 years with Sunbeam Bread, he decided it was time to retire and enjoy life.

His church affiliation was as a member of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Zion Church (Pee Dee) Mt. Gilead, North Carolina where he served faithfully; and was a member of the Usher board until his health declined. In his leisure time, he enjoyed gardening which included helping his neighbors and friends with their landscaping, watching his westerns and being an avid sci-fi fan as well.

Allen was preceded in death by two sisters: Viola Sims and Rosa Lee Worth, and a brother Roosevelt Walker.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a lovely wife, Mary Walker, of the home; two step-daughters: Nake Clark and Tonita Burley; a stepson, Anthony Clark; six grandchildren: Trevantaė, Deamani, Kyla, Ameila, Coco and Nivea; three brothers: Isaiah Walker, Jesse Walker and Hullen (Jackylan) Walker all of Salisbury, North Carolina; two sisters: Elizabeth (Karuth) Worth, East Spencer, North Carolina and Nellie Walker, Salisbury, North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Rebecca Caraway; two brothers-in-law, Olden (Val) Lilly, Jr. and Lemmie Lilly of Mt. Gilead, North Carolina; a special church family: Dela Steel, Pauline Jackson, Michelle Carpenter, Dana Prince, Graylin Henrick, Rev. R. L. Goss, Steve Pemberton, and the S.I.A Sisters; a host of nieces and nephews.
